Zoho’s product team has been busy over the past few weeks, rolling out quality-of-life improvements that make things smoother for those living in Zoho CRM daily. July focused on mobility and data freshness, plus a slick reporting enhancement that landed late June. Here's a walkthrough of what's new and why it matters.
Smarter Formula Fields That Work in Real-Time
If you've ever relied on the Now() function in a formula field and wondered why it wasn’t updating, you're not alone. Before this update, Now() was a bit lazy, it wouldn’t auto-refresh unless manually triggered.
That changes with the new auto-refresh option. Admins can now check a box to have fields with the Now function automatically recalculate in real-time. Great for tracking how long deals sit in certain stages or how long tasks are overdue.
Stop Formula Execution When It Doesn’t Make Sense
You can now add conditions to pause formula execution—super useful when calculations shouldn't run, like when deals are marked “Cancelled” or a product hasn’t shipped yet.
Think of this as formula logic with brakes: “If this condition is met, stop calculating.”
Reuse Formulas (Without Rewriting the Whole Thing)
Finally! You can now reference an existing formula field inside a new one. No more copying huge blocks of logic across multiple formulas. Just drop in the reference and move on.
This keeps things tidy and ensures consistency across modules like Quotes, Invoices, and Deals.
You can explore and configure these features by going to: Setup > Modules > [Select Module] > Fields > Create/Edit Formula Field
Mobile CRM Just Got an Upgrade – More Fields, Less Tapping
Android users, rejoice! You can now customise your list view in the Zoho CRM mobile app with up to 9 fields, up from just 3.
This means your team can see more context like deal value, contact number, and stage without having to drill into each record. Better visibility = faster decisions on the go.

June Bonus: Category Columns in Reports
Just sneaking in from June: Zoho has introduced category columns in reports. You can now group data in a pivot-style format using number-based or picklist-based categories.
For example, see how many deals fall within a value range or how lead sources distribute across months. It's a subtle but super handy way to spot trends.
